MPS43B ADTS with MPSRW wireless hand terminal
Second Generation MPS43B Compact ADTS

DMA announce the availability of a new product into their air data test range. The second generation MPS43B instrument incorporates all the advanced technology, and more, that has been developed and proven for the very successful MPS43 compact ADTS.

The MPS43B maintains the same compact size of the original MPS43.

The MPS43B provides additional capabilities and features that DMA have learnt from the feedback gained from the many hundreds of MPS43 instruments now in service.

The enhancements include:

  1. The internal battery now provides for over 1 hour of operation. This not only provides safety for continuation of a test in the event of the AC or 28VDC being lost but also enables remote operation where normal power is not available.
  2. There is now customer access to the internal battery via the rear panel to allow changing or removal of the battery. Shipment of the instrument can now be made with no internal battery if desired leaving the user to install the battery or run from AC/DC supplies only, with no battery installed.
  3. A vacuum supply accessed via a front panel mounted connector allows those customers using static adapters that utilise  vacuum hold down features, as do the DMA Adapters , to fasten to the aircraft fuselage.
  4. Optional additional Ps and Pt outlets can now be provided. 3 extra Ps and 3 extra Pt branches can be installed on the rear side for those aircraft with multiple mounted probes or sensors that need to be driven by the air data tester.
  5. Power is now as standard via:  worldwide AC, 28VDC and the internal battery.
  6. In addition to operation from the front panel of the instrument Remote Operation is now possible via optional hand terminals using either the cable connected MPSRC remote terminal or the Bluetooth connected MPSRW Wireless remote terminal.
  7. A totally flat front panel weatherproof design is now employed that also incorporates a flush mounted power switch.
  8. Additional internal volumes are now installed that improve the Leak Testing feature and additionally aid the control stability.
  9. The weight of the new MPS43B, despite all the new capabilities is still only 4.5 Kgs./10 lbs
MPSRW wireless remote control terminal
MPSRW Wireless Remote Control Terminal

DMA have now developed the MPSRW, a wireless remote control unit that is capable of being used with any of the wide range of MPSxxx instruments. A single model is able to control any of the DMA Air Data Test Set range. DMA already offer cable connected remote hand terminals and now the MPSRW is available for  applications where the customer prefers not to use the cable connection.

This new terminal has a variety of useful features and the following describe some of the features.

  1. A rugged construction and environmentally sealed to meet the requirements of IP65
  2. The operating display of the MPSRW is designed to offer a  very similar arrangement to the DMA software package, ADWIN.  This is the package available to MPS Air Data tester users as a method of giving increased control and data storage capabilities. This feature is reflected in the MPSRW.
  3. The MPSRW hand terminal is comfortable to handle. It's size is 21 cm x 13 cm x 3.5cm and it weighs 1.1 kg / 2.5 lbs.
  4. The operating range, that is the distance between the MPS air data tester and the  MPSRW terminal is  approximately 10 meters / 40 ft
  5. The MPSRW connects via either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and the connection mode is user selectable.
  6. Within the terminal are 2 batteries that enable a typical operating period of 4 hours.
  7. All the operator command instructions to control the MPS over the desired test routines are via the touchscreen.

MPS49
18 months Calibration interval on new MPS45 and MPS49

DMA now offer a re-calibration period of 18 months for their latest air data test sets MPS45 and MPS49. While many Users are obligated by the Authorities to recertify their test equipment on an annual 12 month cycle, the opportunity does exist for those who are not so regulated to extend  the calibration period to 18 months thus enabling cost and outage time savings to be made. The latest sensor characterisation and closely monitored stability / deviation test results, show stability of better than 80ppm over a 2 year period, permitting DMA to now provide these improvements with confidence to our Customers.

8 Ps ports and 4 Pt ports on MPS45
12 Port Multiple Isolators

DMA have offered optional multi-port isolators on their air data test sets for many years. The ability to open and close these independent lines from the keyboard on the flight deck saves significant amounts of time. These remotely controlled isolators have proved to be very popular enabling leak testing to be carried out much more rapidly and the ability to set different line values for comparison testing between Captain and first officer instruments is also a popular feature.

On the new MPS45 twin channel instrument and the 3 channel MPS49 it is now possible to have up to 12 isolated connections. For the twin channel these can be designated as up to 8 static and 4 pitot, and the MPS 49 can be arranged as 4 static and 4 pitot and 4 Angle of Attack.

Wi-fi, bluetooth and ethernet interfaces available
Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth Interfaces

For the new MPS45 and MPS49  we now offer optional interfaces for connections via Ethernet, Wi-Fi  and Bluetooth. These interfaces further extend the ability of the DMA air data test sets to be controlled and monitored on external devices. These interfaces further extend the standard connections provided for RS232 and the USB port with memory device for those Users who wish to integrate the testers into wider capability systems. Where the test sets are being used in a Laboratory / Avionics workshop environment  it is now possible to use these added features to integrate the testers into ATE systems.

MPSRE2 and MPSRC
NEW Remote Control Units

In addition to the panel mounted control interface on the test set, consisting of a coloured touch screen and adjacent keyboard for added flexibility, hand held units for use in the cockpit / flight-deck are also provided. With the introduction of the MPS45 twin channel  and the MPS49 3 channel test sets DMA now offer improved remote  control units.

The MPSRC is a new design offering essentially a convenient duplicate of the console mounted features of colour screen and adjacent keyboard all housed in a ergonomically styled case that is comfortable to grasp in the hand while operating from within the aircraft. The design provides a rugged, splash proof  unit weighing only 0.5 kg (1.1lbs)

For those Operators who prefer a larger display and ability to set multiple control parameters all displayed together, then the MPSRE2 terminal is also optionally available with the MPS45 and MPS49. It offers touch screen capability and provides a parameter layout for viewing that is identical to the established ADWIN software that DMA provide for pc control of the test sets. It also features a USB port for test program download and uploading subsequent test results.
